What is PTSD?
PTSD is an anxiety disorder which can be caused by very stressful, frightening or distressing events.
The trauma is stored in the body, which results in both mental and physiological responses, which can feel overwhelming and intrusive.
Common symptoms of PTSD include;
- Insomnia
- Nightmares
- Panic attacks
- Flashbacks
- Distress
- Nausea, increased heart rate, sweating
PTSD is estimated to affect 1 in 3 people who experience a traumatic experience, and can feel debilitating, exhausting and distressing.
PTSD can be successfully treated, and there are a number of approaches. Including taking antidepressants, accessing psychological therapies such as CBT or EMDR, or REWIND Therapy which is a very effective treatment for PTSD for anyone who has experienced a single traumatic event, or repeated exposure to traumatic events.
Left untreated PTSD can result in a number of issues including, drug or alcohol dependency, relationship issues, employment issues, psychiatric disorders or suicidal ideations or attempts.
REWIND Therapy is a technique used for the treatment of PTSD, phobias and anxiety. It is non-intrusive, safe and a highly effective psychological method for the treatment of PTSD. Unlike other treatments for PTSD it is a quick and safe, and the details of the traumatic event do not have to be shared, reducing distress during the treatment process.
It is the most consistently effective, non-intrusive technique and has additional built in safety factors for lowering emotional arousal.
